Tryouts Info and FAQ

Please note that registration for tryouts does NOT commit a player to register for the Royal Palm Beach Strikers for the upcoming season;  nor does it confirm that a player has been selected for a team.  Parents and players will be notified at tryouts or by email whether the player has been selected for a RPB Competitive Team.  There is no fee to tryout.

With everyone’s health and safety as our top priority, we are implementing several changes to our program following the guidance of our city, state, and medical experts due to our unprecedented times resulting from the COVID-19 virus. Please review all of the following information before you click to register using the respective links below.

First and foremost, we will be implementing a LIMITED, non-contact, skill-based tryout with all recommended social distancing measures in place.  Our Tryout process will then progress through different Phases of distancing and safety restrictions as determined by our governing authorities. All RPB Strikers staff will also follow all necessary safety guidelines as required.

Current and Returning RPB Strikers Players

Because of what will be a LIMITED 2020-2021 Tryout, we will be offering every current RPB Strikers player the guarantee to be SELECTED and return to RPB Strikers as a player for the 2020-2021 season PROVIDING THEY REGISTER ONLINE by June 5, 2020. All current players will be evaluated and placed to our upcoming 2020-2021 teams based on their performance during the 2019-2020 season, in combination with our LIMITED 2020-2021 Tryouts. We request that all players attend Tryouts. However, if a player is in a household which includes a family member with a “high risk” underlying condition and elects not to participate in Tryouts, that player will be solely evaluated based on their past performance, provided they are registered online by June 5, 2020.  Players can still register online after June 5th but will no longer be granted a guaranteed position.

New Players to RPB Strikers

New players who are not currently active on a RPB Strikers roster will be selected based on a combination of their evaluation during our LIMITED tryouts, prior staff evaluations during past competitions, and by their optional submission of any and all video recordings; including highlights, games, skills, etc. Such submission, or any questions, should be emailed to our RPB Strikers Director of Coaching at All new players must be registered online one week prior to Tryouts to be considered.

* Note: video recording submissions are not required, but optional.

We have yet to receive the actual date that we will be allowed to resume group activity on our Village fields. We anticipate that we will start back no earlier than June 1st, but we will immediately relay that info to all players ASAP!  Once you are registered for tryouts you will receive all current news & updates by email. We will also post our “Limited Tryout Schedule” to this website Tryout Info Page as soon as we have the exact date. Please plan on attending LIMITED Tryouts beginning no earlier than June 1st. Your patience and cooperation is greatly appreciated.

UPDATE:  Tryouts will take place the week of Monday, June 15 thru Saturday, June 20.  Please refer to the schedule for specific age groups on our "Registration for Tryouts" page.

IMPORTANT: For current RPB Strikers players to be assured a position on a 2020-2021 team, all players must be registered online by June 5, 2020. All Players must be registered online to attend Tryouts; no exceptions! Online Registration is now available!

3. REVISED 2020-2021 Team Travel Policy

It will no longer be a requirement for RPB Strikers players to travel as a team group to tournaments, games, and events which require overnight hotel stays or air travel. All players of all ages will be allowed to travel and stay with their parents at all events during the 2020-2021 season. This will allow families to make their own decision regarding the safety and social distancing measures they prefer for their family during team travel. It will also allow families to reduce the cost of player travel by electing alternate means of player transportation and utilizing membership miles programs, and/or airline/hotel discount programs. However, our normal team travel procedure will also remain in effect and available for any player who elects to travel with their team, room with their teammates, and be chaperoned by team managers and staff. The choice will now be left to the individual family.

We hope that all of our revised policies will help and encourage every RPB Strikers player to participate in a safe and healthy upcoming 2020-2021 season. We CANNOT WAIT to see everyone back on the field soon!

Tryout Registration

Tryout Registration:

  • All players (including current players) are REQUIRED to register online..

  • If you are not able to register within 24 hours of the first scheduled tryout, you should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the first session to register on site.

Tryout Attendance:

  • It is in the player's best interest to attend all tryout sessions.

  • RPB Strikers conducts open tryouts. Returning players are required to tryout in the same manner as players new to the club.

  • Only players and active technical staff are permitted on the playing surface during the tryout session. Parents should remain off the fields.

Playing "Up":

Players must attend the tryouts for their specific birth year. The technical staff will determine if it is appropriate for a player to tryout in an older age group. If a player is interested in trying out for an older age group, please follow this procedure:

  • Register online for age appropriate group tryouts.

  • Email with the following information: Player name, date of birth, current team, requested age group. The technical staff will be notified of your request.

  • All players are required to attend at least the FIRST session with their age appropriate age group (even if approved to tryout with an older group).

  • Players should NOT attend a tryout without appropriate registration as it will further delay the process, and the technical staff will not have your information on their evaluation sheets.

What to Bring and Wear to Tryouts:

  • Players should arrive 20 minutes prior to each session to check-in and get their assigned numbered tryout pinnie.

  • This assigned numbered pinnie needs to be used by the players at each tryout they attend.

  • Please bring ball, water, shin guards and cleats to all tryouts.

Coaching Staff:

  • The RPB Strikers coaching staff is led by Director of Coaching, Mal Hasan.

  • All RPB Competitive Teams are coached by USSF licensed coaches with extensive experience.

  • All coaches are selected and assigned to a team by the DOC.

Player Evaluations:

  • The tryout process will occur over several days where players are evaluated based on all pertinent areas of the game for both current performance and predicted future performance.

  • During the process, evaluations from multiple staff coaches will be taken into account in order to select the team.

Team Formation:

  • Teams are formed based on the results of entire age group tryouts.

  • RPB typically offers 1 team per age group, however, this number may vary from year-to-year based on the results of the tryout process.

Player Notification:

  • Players will be notified at tryouts or via email to inform them if they have been selected for a competitive team.
